I recently have been trying to figure out a way to use flash with my sx-70 in an effort to stem the desire for an I-2. I shot this with off camera flash unsynced utilising the long exposure time of sx-70 in the dark a single handhelf weak flash was able to get this and I love this portrait of my friend. I love using the sx-70 for capturing moments of life and being able to do a quick and dirty scan with the polaroid app and just give them away. But I have definitely at times felt limited by the sx-70 lack of flash though the lens is absolutely incredible for being 50+ years old design.
I’ve never considered using the flash with an open shutter on SX-70 (even though I advocated for doing this on other cameras: analog.cafe/r/a-simple-gui…).
I figure the darkness forced your SX-70 to open the shutter to 𝒇8 and you could probably use your flash’s guide number to get the exposure just right? That’s what I want to do now. 😁
