Why Analog.Cafe?

Analog.Cafe empowers photographers and non-photographers to be better at and happier making analogue art since 2017.

This blog is a living resource with hundreds of articles and interactive applications designed from scratch. Most content is edited continuously to ensure relevancy, add retrospective improvements, and respond to reader feedback. Even the product photos, which are all shot on film, get updates. There may be no other website willing to put this much effort into presenting years of photographic, creative, and technical talent to thousands of daily readers for free, ad-free.

A founder’s letter to prospective subscribers.

Hi!

Dmitri here.

I’m the founder, tech support, and author at Analog.Cafe.

I’ve been building this blog into what I think is the nicest film photography resource since 2017.

To make it as nice as it needs to be, I don’t show ads. Not only are they distracting, but they can also be dangerous, which I can not allow in this privacy-friendly space.

Countless hours were spent optimizing code and design to make the articles load fast and read well on screens of all sizes. I built convenient web apps to help keep track of film across cameras, keep tabs on film prices, and a couple of games you can play.

But those features and the hundreds of articles with high-resolution photos have to live somewhere — and the rent isn’t free. This website’s traffic has doubled many times over since its launch, making it more expensive to host each year.

A few readers have generously donated funds to keep this project afloat — thank you!

To make your support worth every penny, I designed GOLD memberships with exclusive features like 4K image resolution so you can examine film grain, advanced web apps, and monthly premium articles.

It’s like Patreon but without a corporate middleman and a better experience for all — supporters or not.

Thanks to the continuous support, Analog.Cafe remains free and ad-free for anyone looking for essential film knowledge, quality camera reviews, or ways to connect with other like-minded photographers.

If you found this website helpful or just like to support small, passionate human publishers, you can become a GOLD member and help it grow into an even better resource while gaining access to premium content.

Thank you!

Dmitri.
